Outcome of the special session of FI-India
Outcome of the special session of FI-India on 03 Jan 2005 at St. Anthony's friary, Bangalore, India for Tsunami relief work:
- Tsunami Disaster relief work of AFFI to be co-ordinated by Fr. Divakar OFM Cap., Babu Jose OFM, Isaac OFM Cap.
- Immediate Trauma counselling training camps to be organised in Chennai, Pondichery, Velankanni, Muttom and in Bangalore at the earliest for the Franciscans who are involved in Relief work.
- Task force of experts set up by TN-Pondi region to include Jesu Irudayam OFM and Mr. Victor Singarayar SFO (Victor will identify retired IAS/IPS officers who can be resourceful to this group).
- The task force will meet on 11th Jan at Trichy to work out the overall plan.
- Special attention to Human Right based approach to be given by Franciscans in monitoring the just distribution of resources by Govt. to those who deserve, forming SHG kind of groups among survivors, and help people in recovery of documents: ration cards, bank passbooks, election ID, passports etc.
- A nodal agency and helpline to be established to the above purpose. It also make known to public the service targeted.
- Poor Clares and others to be encouraged to support with liturgies and prayers. Appropriate Inter-religious prayers to be given special focus. Models worked out to be distributed.
