Third day: October 20th

In the first part of the session, Br. Alejandro Castro, Co-Director of the JPIC Office in Rome, presented the new JPIC resource: "The Lord Give You Peace: A New Word is Possible" to put into practice the proposals of the General Chapter of 2003 as it relates to JPIC. The resource contains various reflections to provoke dialog in each fraternity of the Order, so that each friar can share with his fraternity concrete and practical answers based on his specific experience.

The JPIC proposals has exercises for the friars that take different forms: the constant reading of the signs of the times, the unceasing search for the Kingdom of God by means of expressions of the Interior Life, the essential option for the poor such as the expression of our minority and the practices which cause us to confront conflicts in a healthy way.

For the next part, the friars met in groups to give depth to each one of the following proposals: Environmental Justice, Active Franciscan Nonviolence, Ethical Use of Our Resources and Attention to Refugees, Displaced Persons and Emigrants. Each group was coordinated by a specialist in their subject area, with the goal of adapting the proposals to the challenges presented by the European reality.

In the afternoon, each group presented its work with the objective of changing the viable action proposals for the different levels: provincial, conference, national or international. An initiative was proposed to work more closely with FI-Geneva to establish an office at the European Parliament which would make present the most urgent subjects: migration, refugees, climate change, etc.

In the evening, COMPI shared their Italian joy and some crafts.
