Daily Summary - February 6, 2006
   

Morning Session

After a prayer service organized by the Southern Cone (Argentina and Chile) and Bolivariana (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia) Conferences, the participants broke into language groups to discuss various proposals for the animators, the entities of the Order, the Conferences, the JPIC Office in the General Curia, the General Definitorium and General Chapter. These proposals were grouped into the area of spirituality, the excluded, and formation.

Afternoon Session

In the afternoon, the proposals were present to a plenary session, and then consolidated into nine proposals. The conference groups then discussed these proposals.

A resolution was presented to the Congress by a member of the City Council which had passed the resolution unanimously. It recognized the importance of the Congress, and the work of the friars with the excluded. Rodrigo Peret and his work with the landless was highlighted.

Celso Teixeira and Thomas McGrath, the Franciscan and Biblical experts, were thanked by the Congress as their participation in the Congress ended.

The day ended with a prayer organized by the West Slav Conference.

In the evening, a presentation was made to the university community concerning Franciscans and specifically their work in the area of JPIC.
